Donating to the ReStore 

Help us by donating your gently-loved and useful items, treasures you know others will be happy to find!

Remodeling, down-sizing or moving? Habitat for Humanity ReStore wants your treasures. Give your gently-loved items a second life by donating them! Donations are tax deductible. We serve Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel counties.

  • Drop-Off Donations
    • Bring your donations, in good condition, to your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Winter drop-off donation hours Monday-Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm) 1601 N. Townsend Ave.
  • Arrange a Pick-Up
    • Call your Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 970-252-9304 ext. 8 to request a free pick-up of those items too big to fit in your car.
    • Or schedule your request online here. More information about the areas we service and guidelines for what we accept can be found at this link. During the winter months Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans reserves the ability to cancel any donation pick-up due to snow, ice or winter storm advisories. We will reschedule to our nearest available date.

We Accept Brand-New, Gently Used & Working Condition Items, Including:

  • Large Appliances: stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, freezers, washers, dryers
  • Small Appliances: microwaves, toasters, fans, mixers, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers
  • Beds: frames, rails, head and foot boards (except those constructed of particle board)
  • Building Materials: 
    • Power tools, lumber, tile, bricks, roofing, interior and exterior doors
    • Double-pane windows, window blinds with hardware in good condition
    • Cabinets, toilets, sinks (Stainless, or Porcelain), faucets, shower enclosures, bath tubs (Vinyl or antique Claw Foot Styles)
    • Light fixtures, carpet, carpet pad
    • Kohler brand and very good condition toilets
  • Hardware: hinges, brackets, door knobs, nails, screws, landscape materials and tools
  • Clothing: men’s, women’s, children’s, infant. Clean, laundered, no rips, tears, or stains please!
  • Shoes: pairs that are clean and in good condition
  • Linens:  blankets, sheets, towels, rugs
  • Electronics and Media: radios, audio visual equipment, stereo systems, surround sound speaker systems, video game consoles, printers, fax machines, copy machines, print/fax/copy cartridges, DVDs, BluRays, CDs, books
  • Flat Screen Televisions:
    • Must be within 5 years of age fully functional with its remote, stand and power cord
    • A member of staff must approve the donation by testing the unit with the donor present prior to final acceptance
  • Furniture:  sofas, recliners, and occasional tables in gently used condition
  • Housewares: dishes, glassware, silverware, paintings, pots, pans, vases, lamps, antiques
  • Mattresses: Must be labeled with the original manufacturer’s name and address as well as the name of the materials used to fill the article. Must be clean with no rips, stains, holes, tears. We will sanitize each donated mattress in accordance to the Colorado Bedding Act. We Will Not Accept Based on Condition and Popularity for Re-Sell:

  • Furniture that has tears, rips, stains, animal hair and smells, or is incomplete
  • Mattresses and box springs that show any stain, rip, tear, or animal hair, or is missing its original manufacturer’s label sewn into the seam
  • Particle board: desks, entertainment centers
  • Wet, dirty clothing
  • Organs
  • Unframed Glass including shower glass or table-tops missing essential frames
  • Cast Iron Bathtubs and Kitchen Sinks (antique claw-foot tubs and sinks accepted)
  • TVs/Screens: includes all tube-style, projection, laptop computers, CRT computer monitors
    • If you are a resident of the City of Montrose visit the Public Words facility to recycle up to two screens per year. If you reside in the County of Montrose visit the Landfill and expect .45 cents per pound to dispose
  • Media: Cassette Tapes, 8 Tracks, VHS, Encyclopedias
  • Toilets missing pieces or are in poor or filthy condition

We Will Not Accept Based on Safety Concerns or Chemical Household Waste Guidelines:       

  • Used paint
    • Residents may bring up to 5 gallons per day to Sherwin Williams per their reclamation program or visit the landfill to dispose properly
  • Household Chemicals 
    • Persons may bring household chemicals to the landfill and pay a fee to dispose properly
  • Baby items that may have seen a safety recall:
    • Baby Cribs
    • Baby Walkers
    • Bouncers
    • Bumbo Chairs
    • Play Pens
    • Car Seats
  • Vehicle tires 
  • Window Blinds
  • Fluorescent Bulbs
  • Helmets to include motorcycle and hockey helmets
  • Tension style exercise bars
  • Hard Hats
